GENASYS replaces PC based in-store servers with an IBM frame relay connected IBM iSeries server. iSeries servers are noted for their extreme high rate of availability (up-time), ease of use (OS/400 operating system), broadest range of scalability, and documented lower cost of ownership.

With the advent of lowering cost and higher rates of reliability of wide area networks (WANs) such as frame relay, it has become cost justifiable to replace in-store servers with WAN connected central servers.

There is no known limit to the number of stores and registers a single iSeries can handle but functionally GENASYS is currently limited to 10,000 stores and unlimited registers.
